Lithium-ion batteries are common in our daily lives, whether in aerospace, power batteries for new energy vehicles, or even our laptops and mobile phones. Aluminum foil is one of the important materials for lithium-ion batteries and is mainly used as a current collector for lithium-ion batteries. Battery aluminum foil is also one of Flait Aluminum’s main products. 

Aluminum foil is mainly used in three aspects of lithium batteries, namely aluminum foil for lithium battery cathode current collectors, aluminum foil for lithium battery outer packaging aluminum plastic film, and aluminum foil for battery tabs. What people usually call battery aluminum foil refers to the aluminum foil used for the positive electrode current collector of lithium batteries.

    Aluminum foil is the only material suitable for lithium-ion battery positive current collectors. Rolled aluminum foil is usually used as the positive electrode current collector. Rolled foil thickness varies from 10 to 50 microns. Commonly used pure aluminum foils for lithium batteries include various alloy grades such as 1060/1050/1235/1100.

    Aluminum plastic film for lithium batteries is a multi-layer composite film, usually composed of a three-layer structure, in which the middle layer material is aluminum foil. Its main function is to prevent moisture from entering the battery from the inside and electrolyte from seeping out. The commonly used material is 8021 aluminum foil.

    Battery tabs are metal conductors that lead out the positive and negative electrodes from the battery core. They are the contact points when the battery is charged and discharged.Commonly used materials include 1050 aluminum foil, 1060 aluminum foil and 8011 aluminum foil. The thickness is usually between 0.08-0.2mm.

Advantages of Flait battery aluminum foil

  • 1.Flait has advanced rolling and alloying technology to produce battery aluminum foil with uniform thickness (thickness deviation is required to be controlled within ±4%) and high strength (tensile strength is required to reach between 190-280N/mm2).
  • 2.The surface of the battery aluminum foil has no rolling defects such as creases, spots, or bright lines, and no obvious roll marks, pitting, pinholes, or corrosion marks;
